There is an aromatic creeper usually found in low altitude areas of Ithaca called Agrambeli, to English speakers, it is known as the wild woodbine. This is where the name of the villa comes from. Agrambeli villa nestles amidst a patchwork of olive groves only 2.5 km from Ithaca’s charming capital, Vathy. Set in lovely gardens, amongst olive trees and vineyards, Villa Agrambeli, built out of local stone, with bougainvillea and vines creeping and clinging to the walls, blends beautifully into the surrounding landscape giving it an air of timelessness. From its front windows and spacious terraces this lovely property boasts beautiful panoramas over the surrounding countryside of Ithaca (Ithaki) and an excellent sea view.

Agrambeli is a two storey stone built villa of 75m² and its appearance resembles the old traditional stone built houses of the area. Comfortably furnished and extremely well decorated, it consists of an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen and two bedrooms each with its own bathroom. Wood and stone are the most commonly used materials in this magnificent country villa.

The interior is bright and homely with the different colour schemes of each room carefully selected, reflecting the vibrancy of tones and shades found on Ithaca Island and make an excellent combination with the wooden ceiling. A solid oak floor covers the entire house. Contemporary fittings and furnishings have been selected to complement older pieces of family furniture handmade by local craftsmen and are carefully placed around a corner fireplace. Charm in huge doses. These pieces of furniture create traditional yet comfortable areas with a modern touch. The living/dining room is open plan, with a well-equipped modern kitchen with refrigerator, oven, hotplates, coffee maker, toaster and kettle. The villa has an LCD TV, home cinema, and radio and internet connection as well.

The bedrooms all have air conditioning, with windows either looking out over the gardens or across the vineyards towards the hills. They are located on the northern side of the house and have traditional style wooden wardrobes and iron beds. One bedroom has a double bed, a Sea View and access to the villa’s front yard, while the other bedroom has 2 single beds with Mountain View and access to the villa’s back yard. From the bedroom window one can enjoy the view of the olive groves, the vineyards and the house garden. Great attention has been given to the bathroom facilities and decoration. One bathroom has a bathtub while the other has a shower cabin.

The spacious garden has plenty of olive trees, rosemary, lavender, colourful geranium and other local plants and trees. The villa has its own swimming pool and stone built barbecue; and because of the numerous trees surrounding it, there is always a choice between sunshine and shade.

Most important, however, is the privacy it offers to its guests who may spend an undisturbed holiday in the island of Ithaca in one of the most peaceful areas of Ithaca Island.
